PARTICIPATION
Organizing to Fight
Training for on-the-job actions: The success of the Escalation Actions Committee and Captains program can roll forward with a Contract Action Team in 2027. This can operate as a standing strategy hub before, during, and after negotiations.
Improving with reflection: Publish results of our bargaining surveys, and hold a TAG-wide member debrief after each contract fight.
Removing Barriers to Access
You shouldn’t choose between staying informed and staying current on dues: Implement dues hardship programs that lower or even temporarily freeze the cost of dues without having to become an Honorably Withdrawn member.
Members are our experts in contract enforcement: Grievances are often filed quietly and without much fanfare. We can make enforcing our contract an easy and accessible way to empower workers by involving more workers in the everyday representation of our issues at work. Grievance committees formed at your workplace can work to document violations of your rights, so that your fight is everyone’s fight.
Modernizing our democracy: You should be able to vote for TAG union office just like you do for our contract votes - electronically! You should also be able to cast a ballot for International President of your union, IATSE, too.
Local political office endorsement system: An endorsement system for TAG members to get leaders who care about animation worker issues into office, and working hard for our vote!
Constitution and By-Laws Committee, which has not met in five years, will re-form and have structured goals and benchmarks for reforming TAG’s Constitution and By-Laws.
Uplifting Member-Leaders
Term limits: Implementing term limits for our elected officers will usher in fresh perspectives.
Member-generated presence: More member-led communications can generate social media and other content from the membership, to talk to our community the way we know best!
